Queen Moss (Taxiphyllum sp. 'Queen')
Queen moss is a rare and elegant moss variety prized in aquascaping for its delicate, feathery texture and graceful growth pattern.
Appearance:
Queen moss features fine, soft, and bright green fronds. It has a more upright and bushier growth compared to other mosses. Often described as having a “royal” or refined look due to its structure.
Aquarium Use: It is ideal for attaching to rocks, driftwood, or mesh. Queen moss creates flowing, natural accents in aquascapes and offers excellent hiding spaces for shrimp and small fish. It works well in both foreground and background placements.
Care Requirements: Light levels should be low to medium. COâ is not required, but it will enhance growth. The recommended temperature range is 20 to 28°C (68 to 82°F), and it prefers a pH between 5.5 and 7.5. Growth speed is moderate.
Additional Notes: Queen moss is less common than Java or Christmas moss, making it a standout in aquascapes. It requires regular trimming to maintain shape and prevent overgrowth. This moss thrives in stable, clean water conditions with gentle flow.
