Peacock Moss (Taxiphyllum sp. 'Peacock')
Peacock moss is a beautiful and structured aquatic moss known for its vibrant green color and symmetrical, feather-like fronds. Its dense, horizontal growth pattern makes it an excellent choice for detailed aquascapes and natural moss displays.
Appearance: Peacock moss has flat, fan-shaped branches that resemble the spread of a peacock’s tail. It features a rich green color and grows in neat, horizontal layers, giving it a clean, elegant look. Compared to other mosses, its growth is more controlled and evenly spaced.
Aquarium Use:
It works well when attached to driftwood, stones, or mesh and is commonly used for creating moss walls, trees, or ground cover. Its dense growth provides great shelter for shrimp and small fish, and it adds texture and depth to planted tanks.
Care Requirements:
Peacock moss prefers low to medium lighting and benefits from stable water conditions. COâ is not required but will promote better growth. It grows best in temperatures between 20 and 28°C (68 to 82°F) and a pH range of 5.5 to 7.5. Growth is slow to moderate.
